About me: I am a former social worker, with my highest level of education being a MSW. I have supported children and their families in various capacities since I was a child myself.
I started babysitting and volunteering at my church as a tween. As a social worker, I worked with children as a Family Advocate for a Children’s Advocacy Center and as a Child Crisis Interventionslist. I’ve volunteered with several organizations, but the longest with Reading Partners, teacjing children how to read. I have served as a children’s ministry director for over a decade. Professionally, I own and operate a childrens literacy business. I am also a credentialed Montessori educator and have worked in a Montessori setting for over 15 years, teaching the following levels: Infants. Toddlers, 3-6 year olds, and 6-9 year olds. My experiences have given me the opportunity to engage in another field I enjoy- event planning.
I hold a Texas Childcare Director License, a City of Arlington Childcare Worker’s Permit, and have met the annual requirements of childcare worker’s in the state of Texas for more than 15 years. This include current CPR, First aid, Shaken Baby, SIDS, and child abuse training. I have been background checked by various organizations (including city governments) in multiple states for the last 20+ years.
When I’m not working with kids, I enjoy a good movie, good food, and a good nap (lol). I feel my best when I get to enjoy nature and spend time with my husband, family, and friends.
I signed up for Our Village as a provider because I get to witness the overwhelm many parents feel everyday. I hope I can pour into my local community, in a small way, during my spare time.
